Nature and Scope:
Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals, you provide high quality, inclusive care and
creative programming for children in a group setting. In collaboration with your co-workers and
reporting to the Child Care Supervisor, you plan and implement a child-led, play-based curriculum for
children aged 12 months to 5 years. You engage and build meaningful relationships with children, coworkers, families and external stakeholders while ensuring children are well supervised and provided
developmentally appropriate, fun choices.
This is a unique opportunity to join our growing team in opening brand new childcare programs in the
Metchosin community, catering to children from infancy through elementary school!

Position: Permanent Full Time
Placement: Tentative start date August 24, 2026, pending building completion
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7am and 5:30pm
Wage: ECE: $30.63/hour* (plus benefits – see benefits below)
ECE IT/SN: $31.81/hour* (plus benefits – see benefits below)
NOTES:
*This wage rate includes the additional $6/hour provided by MECC’s ECE Wage Enhancement
Program (for qualified candidates).
• Additional $3.00/hour available for Class 4 drivers on days assigned to transport children in
the Y’s vehicle.
Benefits:
This permanent full-time position is entitled to a YMCA-YWCA individual membership; 15 days paid

• Provide quality care and creative programming to children.
• Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families.
• Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families.
• Deliver high quality and age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn
curriculum.
• Provide active supervision at all times and work as a team to support transitions between play
areas.
• Keep a clean and safe environment – in all program areas and common spaces.
• Follow all YMCA-YWCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL) and legal requirements, including
YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards.
Qualifications:
• Current ECE License to Practice in BC required.
• Current ECE Infant Toddler License to Practice required for work in the Infant/Toddler program.
• Special Needs Educator Certificate or additional courses/training related to child growth and
development are an asset.
• Experience working with children in a childcare setting.
• Strong written and verbal and communication skills
• High level of organization and customer service skills
• Current First Aid and CPR required (Standard First Aid with CPR-C must be completed within the
first month of employment)
• BC Class 4 Driver’s License and a clear driver’s abstract is an asset.
• A clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required*
• A clear Police/RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required**
