Located in the dynamic Westhills community of Langford, BC, we are an emerging daycare center. Our services encompass an Infant and Toddler program (ages 8 months to 36 months) with 12 spots and a Group Childcare program (ages 30 months to 5 years) with 40 spots. We anticipate the grand opening of our facility in January 2024.

Job Description
The role of the Childcare Director involves overseeing the day to the day operations of the centre. Along with collaborating with the owners and parents, you’ll manage budgeting and financial matters, handle human resources such as recruitment, and make strategic choices to guide the school’s operations. You’ll assess staffing needs aligned with Childcare Licensing, oversee enrollment, and cultivate a positive work environment through effective leadership and guidance.
Your Responsibility and Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Primary Duties:
- Lead, organize, oversee, direct, and manage day-to-day childcare facility operations.
- Cultivate collaboration and inspire growth within the daycare team.
- Address the needs of diverse stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Parents, Administration/HR/Payroll, and licensing bodies.
- Foster a sense of community and inclusivity within the center, arranging special events for staff, children, and families in close coordination with the team.
Human Resources:
- Recruit, onboard, train, supervise, mentor, and assess staff.
- Initiate background checks and maintain updated and comprehensive employee records.
- Resolve staff and parent conflicts constructively and collaboratively.
Licensing:
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of childcare licensing prerequisites.
- Familiarity with VIHA group care licensing regulations
- Ensure strict compliance with all legislative mandates and regulations.
- Collaborate with the team to uphold a safe environment.
Operations:
- Oversee administrative responsibilities such as payroll processing, accounts management, insurance matters, and monthly grant applications and reports.
- Formulate both short- and long-term operational strategies informed by relevant data, including financial and enrollment statistics.
- Devise marketing strategies to raise awareness about our facility and services.
- Assume responsibility for budgeting and effective business plan execution.
- Ensure commitment to annual operating plans, budgets, and grant proposals.

Job Requirements:
- 5 years of experience working with young children in a childcare or early years setting.
- Valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C
- Clean criminal record check
- Proficiency working with MS Office tools (Excel, word etc.,)
- Ability to provide required documentation in accordance with Community Care Facilities licensing requirements.
