Job Title: Early Childhood Educator
Organization: The River Preschool St. Barnabas Anglican Church
Job Requirements: BC ECE Certificate, Valid First Aid/CPR certificate, Clear CRC, documentation of immunization and TB status.
Job Type: 28/hours per week.  10 months/year
Wages: $25.08 per hour; includes CPP, EI and Vacation pay. 
Start date: August 26, 2019

The River Preschool program is based upon Waldorf pedagogy which encourages and nurtures children’s sense of wonder in the world.  It is an approach that creates a warm, loving and caring environment with an emphasis on developing kind and trusting relationships with others.   The

Waldorf philosophy lends itself beautifully to being integrated with a faith-based approach to teaching young children.  The River Preschool will model reverence and thankfulness in daily activities.  The festivals and seasons of the Christian calendar will be followed and celebrated.  The River preschool will be in the St. Barnabas Anglican Church Hall at 1525 Begbie Street, Victoria, BC. 

The successful candidate will: 

*embrace and implement the philosophy of The River Preschool as described above. 
*work as a strong team member with the Director and with the St. Barnabas community life minister.
*build strong relationships with the parents and help them to understand the philosophy of The River Preschool. 
*be able to plan, develop and implement a curriculum in which the hours of the day and the seasons of both the natural year and the church year are marked and celebrated in a predictable, rhythmic manner.
*have strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
*have strong leadership skills as this is a newly licensed preschool.


*curriculum development and teaching.
*daily preparation and clean-up; involve the children in food preparation and serving and in tidying up play areas. 
*attendance at regular staff meetings.
*supervision of ECEA and helper.
*parent communication and parent volunteer coordination.
*organize and coordinate celebrations and festivals with the Community Life Minister of St. Barnabas.
*organization and ordering of resources in conjunction with the director.

Related experience in a Waldorf inspired play group, preschool, or other Waldorf community program would be preferred.  In addition, involvement in a Christian community would also be a significant benefit.  Further training in Waldorf pedagogy can be discussed with the successful candidate.
