University of Victoria Child Care Services is building a casual, on-call pool of certified early childhood educators (ECEs). These are part-time casual positions, with a competitive rate of pay in a unionized environment.
The ECE substitutes work as members of the child care centre teams providing relief staffing when regular child care staff are absent, providing child care to children from infancy to pre-kindergarten age, working in ratio in the child care centres under the supervision of the ECE Supervisor.
UVic Child Care Services provides innovative and responsive child care programs to the UVic community. ECE Substitutes embrace the unit’s philosophy and policies, the BC Early Learning Framework, and all provincial regulations. All staff who work in UVic Child Care Services must be immunized in accordance with the childhood immunization schedule, and possess sufficient stamina for work in a busy full day child care centre. A current ECE certificate through the BC ECE Registry is required.
